More Than 2,000 thousand people go on hunger strike Protest against the Mega power project at Niddodi junction Niddodi village, (about 35 kms from Mangalore city) Mangalore, Karnataka, India on Sunday July 28, 2013. Niddodi Matrubhoomi Samrakshana Horata Samiti launched a hunger strike against the setting up of 4,000-MW ultra mega power plant proposed by the central and the state governments.The mega power project on 4,000 acres of land, by acquiring the remaining land through KIADB. This will affect the villages of Niddodi, Tenka Mijar, Badaga Mijar, Kallamundkur, Muchur, Neerude, Puttige, Kateel, Mennabettu and Kinnigoli where people rely on agriculture for their livelihood.
