EW Clark, an American missionary on 1872 enters into Naga Hills from Sibsagar of Assam and set the first Baptist Church in an Ao village bordering Assam and became the center of missions to further the evangelization of the Naga tribes. Christianity brought an end to the practice of headhunting to the Nagas and is one of the three Christian majority states in India with Meghalaya and Mizoram forming more than 90% population of the state into Christian.
