Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi was visiting Shibli College when the protesters shouted slogans and burnt his effigy. The police resorted to lathi-charge to control the crowd in the Shibli College in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh on 11/01/2012. The protesters were demanding an investigation into Delhi's Batla House encounter near Jamia Millia University in September 2008 in which two students were killed and two others injured.
